pre-Kindergarten doctor appointment.
Yesterday Eli had to have his pre-Kinder {a.k.a. 5 year check-up} before beginning school. Can you believe he is about to start Kinder?! Where does the time go?
Anyway, Eli kept asking whether or not he would have to get shots. I was confident that he did, so I was honest with him and told him, "yes". Of course, he was totally stressed out about this for days! {Sigh}. I'm not gonna lie to the kid, but he got himself so worked up. So, I promised him a milkshake and tried to get him to stop over thinking it.
We got to the doctor and guess what? He had all his shots last year. He was totally up to date. Hurray! The bad news was Jeremiah was due for a shot. {Giant sigh}. That poor child hates the doctor. He has been so much that he just cries now when we get there, because he knows exactly where he is. More times than not, he is due for some sort of shot or ended up with antibiotic shots for all his ear infections {these seemed to work better than the oral}.
Eli, of course, was looking great. He was grown three inches in the past year and was 80th percentile for his height. At 39 pounds, he was 40th percentile for weight. He got an A++ for his 5 year old check-up!
Luckily my mom was with me and took Silas out to the waiting room. We initially all tried going back, but it was just too many people in one tiny room. Eli was hysterical though because he wanted to "trick" daddy that he got a shot anyway, so we took this photo...
Silly child.
We celebrated {and consoled} with icees for all. We nixed the milkshakes because 711 was right by the doctor and it would have been too many turn arounds to get to the McDonald's across the freeway, besides the fact that 9 times out of 10, Eli would chose an icee over a milkshake. But let me say, NOT Silas. He was broken up over the whole no milkshake thing, but it wasn't his choice! That did not fly very well, but so be it. I have to teach them everything is not always about them and they don't always get to be first or get whatever they want. Great lessons, often frustrating to implement.
Overall, it was a successful day, though full of errands and those kind of things that you gotta do, but just aren't so much fun. At least we were in good company!
