three boys.

How many times was I asked the past few months, "do you want a girl?"

I always answered this as best I could which was, "well, I would *love* a girl, but I would *love* a boy."  The day I found out I was pregnant, I prepared myself, "it's a boy, it's a boy, it's a boy."  For some reason, I just figured it would be.  For whatever reason, it seems like every single person in the world told me I'd be having a girl this time around.  No logical reason -- just perhaps people think I have two boys so naturally I should have or should want a girl.

To be honest, the aspect of having a girl that thrilled me the most was dressing a little girl and decorating for a girl.  Who doesn't love all the frilly, beautiful things that comes along with it?  I've expressed my lack of enthusiasm for boy's clothing more times than I can count {and have most likely blogged about it more times than you can count}.  But, there's nothing that melts my heart more than my two adorable, sweet, kind-hearted, lovable and sometimes stinky boys!  They say that mommy's and son's have a special connection, just like daddy's with their little girls, and I think it's the greatest. thing. ever.

The past 24 hours I have had time to let it sink in that I am a mom of three boys.  Three boys!  Woah - who would have ever thought that'd be on my resume?  I count it a privilege and a blessing to be able to raise three boys into young men.  Is there a part of me that is disappointed that it's not a girl?  Not in the least.  I am beyond thrilled.  Ecstatic, really.  Plus, I'm the only grandkid that made it into the elite "mom of three boys club" that the generation before us were all a part of ;)

My favorite verse of all time has always been Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Though I've always known and believed this, we don't know what exactly that entails.  And this is part of God's amazing plan for me.  Wow.

Jeremiah Steven - though I do not yet know you {but can sometimes feel you}, you hold a giant place in my heart {in our hearts} already.  You are truly a gift from God and we are beyond thrilled that you will be joining our family.  We love you!

p.s. In case you're wondering where the name came from... 1.) We wanted it to be a Bible name  2.) I wanted the long "i" sound so it would flow nicely with the boys names  3.) I have always loved the name Jeremiah  4.) Steven is Dusty and his dad's middle name  5.) And as a side note -- Eli thinks we should name the baby Eli, because he wants two Eli's and also that he should look just like him!

p.p.s.  Silas is most often called "Si", Eli is "E" and Jeremiah will be "Jay"  I think this is adorable not only because it just is, but that's also my brother's nickname.  So - he has two namesakes :)

  1. I am so ecstatic about having a third grandson from your family! It is fitting that you would have a Jeremiah as your life verse came from that book. And for me to have another little Jay, well that is exciting. So,I will anxiously await my 5th grandbaby. Jeremiah, you are a blessed boy indeed. Your parents love you so much and wow those brothers of yours will teach you a lot of stuff. Your mamaw is already in love!
