one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.
The boys were in for a special treat today - which by the way, is an event they've been talking about for weeks. Papaw took them fishin'.
Papaw bought them their very own Spiderman fishing poles, some worms, and we were off to the Brookshire's Recreation Area. Within 5 minutes Silas caught his first first, and boy was it exciting!! Both Silas and Eli were tickled pink. They caught (or shall I say, Silas caught) seven fish total. He caught six catfish and one brim. The funny thing was that Silas and Eli were not 5 feet from one another, but Eli's pole never got a single bite. Don't worry though... twice, we put Silas' fish (still attached to the hook) back in the water, so Eli could reel one in. He didn't know any different anyway, so as far as he's concerned he caught two fish.
As much fun as they had, I'm sure they'll love it more when they're a little older. Needless to say, a 3 and 5 year old don't have a ton of patience for fishing. The second the line hit the water Silas would say, "come on fish. come on. eat the worm" and try to reel it in. We kept having to remind him to be patient and watch the line. Eli didn't really get it at all. He was more interested in running circles around the dock proclaiming, "I'm a super hero." Fun time.
Thanks, Papaw for taking us fishin'. You're the best Papaw, ever!!
Love, Silas & Eli
