Today was a day entirely spent with the boys. No work, just play. Well, mostly. We did have to go to the doctor for annual check-ups, but other than that... Oh, and maybe one shot.
I scheduled back to back appointments for Silas and Eli and the only times available were 10:00 & 10:15. There was no point in going to work before or after, seeing as how the doctor's office is no where close to my work. So, we slept a little later and the boys played around the house for awhile until it was time to leave. Believe me, there were no arguments about not having to go to school.
So we got to the doctor's office and Eli was super excited. I'm not sure why, but he kept saying, "We love the doctor." The boys enjoyed playing around the fish tank, pretending to be fish, scuba divers and bad guys until it was our turn to go back. They were measured, weighed, blood pressure and temperature's taken and then Silas had his hearing and vision checked. (Okay, so now I know he can hear. Such a man - sometimes we have listening issues. And by that I mean him completely blocking me out.) Then they changed into gowns, which Eli hated. This ruined his mood for the rest of the visit and the shot at the end certainly didn't help. I was the mom walking out the door with an inconsolable, screaming child and gigantic tears pouring down his face. He screamed all the way to the car, "That girl -- she hurt me!!!"

Afterwards, we went to their favorite McDonald's - it's their favorite because of the huge, indoor play structure. Obviously, they had a blast. Who doesn't love french fries, Happy Meal toys and playgrounds? And what little boy doesn't deserve this kind of treat every once in awhile? Forget the apple slices and milk - bring on the french fries and soda :)

After McDonald's, we went to the pool. Of course, this has turned into an almost every day treat these days - but today, we had bubble guns. Talk about fun.
And now, we're watching a movie and enjoying a small snack. This is the life, my friends. All play and no work.
