My Shining Star
Can I just say that my Silas is the greatest? I love him! This morning he was too cute, all excited for his first day as a Shining Star. I didn't have to wake him up or drag him out of bed complaining. Rather, he popped out of bed early and was in a great mood. We followed our usual morning routine and I was just finishing up getting ready when I reminded Silas to go pick out his sharing for school. He already knew what he wanted to share - his Iron Man mask and new Iron Man Repulsor glove that makes all sorts of cool sound effects and has a blue laser. He told me, "Momma, I will share my Iron Man stuff with my new friends. They will love it. And I will shoot them. I have to show them how cool I am." I grinned at him but was laughing on the inside. He was so serious and concerned about it. It's crazy that even 4 year olds want to be "cool". Well, if a toy could make you cool, I think he picked the right one.
So we drove to school and we talked about going to his new class. He was so excited and I couldn't help but be excited for him. I signed him in, put his sharing in the blue share box and found his new name tag.
The proud owner of a Shining Star name tag. I just showed him the picture and he said, "Mommy! It's me with my Shining Star nametag." I said, "I know! You are so cute." He told me, "Mommy, I am not cute. I am too big for cute." [Sigh]
I brought him to his new teacher and off he went, all smiles. I thought about him all day, wondering how it was going and if it was all he expected it to be. I seriously couldn't wait to pick him up and hear about his day. At 12:30 I walked over to the lunch area and was greeted with, "Mommy!!" in the most excited voice ever. He then said, "I am so glad to be here. I am so exited." So sweet! I got him checked out, he stopped by to show Grammy and Mimi his Iron Man mask and we were off to the car. Once we were settled in the car, we then started talking about his day and how it went. This is everything he told me:
"Mommy! I was a Shining Star. I got to go on the big slide and the big playground. I was listening to my teacher, Miss Lauren and was being a good listener. I was being a good boy and I got a sticker. I was being nice to all my new friends."
I asked him if he wanted to be a Bunny, to which he quickly responded, "No!" He wanted to tell everyone about his day. We tried to call Mamaw and Papaw, but had to leave a message. He did talk to Pappy and Daddy, telling them all about it and asking daddy if he was proud of him. Silas has such a soft heart and I love his sweet innocence. I couldn't be more proud of my little boy and am excited to continue watching him grow and flourish. He is one amazing kid!
