Today, we had an impromtu sneak peek at baby Jeremiah. My mom had mentioned a few weeks back that she wished she could go to my 20 week sonogram. I remember thinking I only wished I would be a little further along when they visited for Silas' birthday so they could go to my 3D/4D sonogram. Typically I go around 26-28 weeks to get a good idea of what the baby will look like. It's beyond amazing and quite the experience.
So last night, I thought - what the heck - and started browsing the internet for pricing and what a baby would actually look like at 21-22 weeks gestation in this type of sonogram {I had in my mind it would still look pretty alien-like}. I found an amazing deal online and figured it would be worth it just for my parents to have the experience and see him -- and, if it looked too weird, the 2D is still fun.
Boy, were we in for a treat. Even though baby J is less than a pound and probably around 10 inches, we still got some great images. Even the technician was amazed at the photos we got for this gestation. He said it was due in part to his amazing skills and my frame. When he explained it, it made sense. Even though the baby is still so tiny, because I was well hydrated and there isn't much separating the baby from me {i.e. fat}, we were able to get amazing images. He said, "There's your placenta, there's the wall of your uterus, and there's your skin... that's it. That's why it's so clear."
So, as I suspected after seeing J's 20 week sonogram, this kid definitely resembles Silas. That nose. The nose is so Silas {a.k.a. Dusty Jr.} Granted, little man still has no fat on him, so I'm anxious to see what he looks like in 5-6 weeks when he plumps up. But I was shocked at the photos we got.
