Meet Toothless

Imagination is brilliant. Silas is certainly not lacking in imagination, that's for sure.  He even has an imaginary friend.  His name is Toothless, and he is a dragon.  Have you ever seen the movie, "How to Tame Your Dragon"?  If you have, you'll know the main character, Hiccup, meets and befriends a dragon. Silas apparently thought this was a great idea, as he also now has his own dragon, by the same name.  At first he called him "Dufus", misunderstanding that it was "Toothless". Still, it sort of sounds like he's referring to him as "Dufus", so it's pretty funny.

So now that you know of Toothless, let me tell you a little bit about him- all from Silas, of course.

Toothless is black.  He can obviously fly and "make fire".  He sleeps under Silas' bed, but not during the night time, because dragons don't sleep at night - didn't you know?  If he is sick, he likes to go on our roof.  He goes to school with Silas, but no one else can see him because he gets scared.  If he gets really scared, he just flies home. Silas is always looking out for Toothless and one day called Grammy to the Preschool to give her Toothless to take in the office with her.  Toothless likes to play on the playground and has a little fort under the slide. From there he can get the bad dragons, if need be.

His favorite color is blue and he loves to eat fish and seaweed.  When I asked Silas what Toothless drinks, I was informed "Lemonade.  Only lemonade." That's an interesting choice of beverage for a dragon.

Silas wanted Toothless to come ice skating with him.  When I told him his fire might melt the ice, he decided, "That's not a very good idea.  I would fall."

Sometimes when calling Silas and Eli, I have to include Toothless.  Toothless took a bath with them this morning. But I was quickly informed he doesn't like his hair washed, he only likes to splash.  He doesn't have to brush his teeth, obviously!

Sometimes Silas can turn into Toothless, by way of his dragon machine.  But mostly, he let's Toothless be Toothless.  I'm not sure how long Toothless will be around, but I can rest easy knowing he's taking care of us.  He watches out for us while we are sleeping and he gets all the bad dragons and bad guys that come to our house.

Thanks, Toothless, for keeping us safe and being such a great friend. You're the best imaginary dragon a boy could have.
