Ice Skating Practice

I shared earlier this week about Silas beginning ice skating lessons. While I was watching him in his class on Wednesday, I was so proud at how hard he was working and how he never gave up - however, he still really couldn't hardly stand up out there. He told me afterwards, "Momma, I really want to skate better. I have to keep practicing." After his lesson we stayed for a bit to watch the hockey players practice and you could see in his little eyes how he wanted to be able to do what they were doing. So Saturday, we decided to take him back to the rink to do just that - practice! He did so well! I was so proud of him and I know he was super proud of himself. He told me he needs to learn how to skate so he can play hockey. That's my boy! The next Mike Modano in the making - ha, if you know me from high school or college, you'll totally get this :) I gotta say, Eli has been quite the trooper watching Silas practice. Although, he's easy to win over with candy, as you'll see in the video!

Afterwards we went to Souplantation - my favorite - and then went to Dusty's office for a bit. He wanted to show me some of the things he's done in his office and that he and his students have been working on. He had a green screen set up and wanted me to snap some quick photos (though all they wanted to do was crawl under and behind it) so I could try out his super fast computer. It was magical. Let's just say my work flow would be insane on a set-up like that! In any case, here's the photos and a video of Silas ice skating at the bottom. You have to watch it - I am so impressed at his diligence and amazing attitude to learn something new.
