"Momma, I have a hole in my heart..."

While driving home from Target this afternoon, Silas questioned me from the backseat, "Momma, did you know that I have a hole in my heart?"

Not knowing where this was going, I told him, "No Silas, you do not have a hole in your heart. Where did you hear that?"

He replied, "Yes, momma I do. We all do. My teachers said so."

Still confused, since he frequently tells me things that his teachers supposedly said that I know are not true, I pressed the topic a bit more.

"Silas, why would your teacher say that? You do not have a hold in your heart."

"YES, momma I do! And you know how I can fix it? Jesus will come into my heart and fill the hole so I am all better."

All I could do was smile. So true and so simple - what if we all had such a child-like faith? I love all the questions from my Silas lately about God and Jesus. He's definitely trying to wrap his little brain around all of it and it fills my heart with joy. What a blessing that my kids have the opportunity to hear the Truth every single day. I was so touched by this simple conversation we had and I cannot wait for more. I pray for his salvation one day and am so thankful God is already working in his precious, little heart.

  1. I love that. I have always believed there is a special place in our heart that only God can fill. I believe a hole would be the best description of all. My grandson is a theologian.
