Target Anonymous

My dream has come true. Target, my Target, now has a grocery section. I have a confession - I go to Target pretty much every single day. It's a rare occasion that I don't make at least a quick stop. There is seemingly always something I need. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean I am a shopoholic or that I spend $100 every time I enter the store. No, I can easily come and go with a gallon of milk or a box of cereal. Some people may think that's crazy, especially because that means every time I go, I have to unload the boys, put them in the shopping cart, get my things, load the car and back to the carseats again. Occasionally, shopping with kids can be a traumatic experience, depending on their mood, attitude, whether they've napped or are hungry, etc. But, my kids love Target too - they really do. Soon after Silas began talking, he named it the "red store" and always asks me whether or not we're going or if we need anything. Often, I'll turn it into a game and I tell him what we need and he has to remember. If I need a distraction, all I have to do is whip out $1.62 and we can get a popcorn combo that produces smiles from all. The nice lady always puts it in two bags for me and we're good to go. Sometimes we even splurge and get the pretzel combo. If ever I need bribery for good behavior, the boys can get a prize. You know that blessed dollar section? Gotta love it. Wait, did I mention that Target is literally less than half a mile from my house. I take my exit off the freeway, sit at the red light waiting to turn left, and there it it - staring me right in the face. That big red store, reminding me of some little thing that I need or that I forgot the last time I was there. There was one time that I was without a car because it was in the shop, so I just packed up my stroller and we went to Target because we needed to get out of the house. I mean really, where else would we go? Don't worry, I don't need an intervention for my obsession. Look - see how happy my kids are there?

Well, back to my story about the new grocery section. I used to have to go to Costco to get my meat and milk, because it's cheaper to buy in bulk, then I'd go to either Vons or Food4Less to get all my produce and to Target for misc stuff such as cereal and soda because it's so much cheaper there. Then I discovered Smart&Final. Well, I always knew about it but they totally changed the format of their store, so I started going there and eliminated Costco and any other grocery store. So I was down to only 2 stops on my grocery shopping days. Well, now I may never have to go anywhere else. I am serious. One place with everything I need, at great prices. I have made attempts to go to Walmart, but I'm a snob when it comes to that place. I really hate it, not to mention I was sort of brought up to hate it because it's my dad's competitor. And for anyone wondering, we don't have Super Walmart's out here in Southern California, so there's really not much point in entering that dreadful place.

So today when we walked in, Silas proclaimed in astonishment, "Momma!! Look at all this stuff! I just can't believe it! Momma! Look - bananas in the red store. Can you believe it??" How proud am I that even Silas noticed the grand change? Yes, a boy after my own heart.

So there you have it - I am addicted to Target. I love everything about it and I won't apologize. So, that's all for now and if you need me, you'll know where to find me.
