moment to moment.
"For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."
I told Dusty this morning that I feel like I am failing at life. I know that sounds overly dramatic and it was a moment of weakness that I've been having a lot of lately. That's why I am more and more convinced that life is a moment to moment surrendering. When I let my thoughts get too far ahead of me, I panic. When my mind wanders, I worry. But when I focus on the truth of His Word and His promises, the trust settles in.
From my morning reading:
'"Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power. Your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy." One of the great images of the Old Testament is that of God stretching out his right hand with power and doing mighty things for his people. So often, Israel faced a larger and more experienced foe. Yet when his people fully trusted in him, he gave them great victory. "
Fully trust. What does that look like? My life right now is so far from my normal that it's taking me over and beyond my comfort zone. We all like to feel like we are in control, right? I thrive with routine, schedule, discipline.....not quite how things are going right now. So everything seems out of control. Again, I believe the trust comes in each moment. I fail, and I will continue to fail. But right now, in this moment, I know this to be true.
God, help me to find the beauty and hear Your voice in all of the moments - the joyful ones, the scary ones, and even the mundane ones. I know you have something to teach me today, even now. Let my ears be open to hear it.
