everything is awesome: Silas' legoland field trip.

I'm in major denial over here. We have nine days of school left. And four of those are half days. This photo, on the first day of school, was like two days ago.

The. year. flew. by.

It's not that I'm not ready for summer. It's my absolute favorite time of year. It's just that it's another year gone. Another grade over. Another milestone passed. {Bring on the mommy tears}.

I always get emotional at the end of the year. In fact, when I'm making my rounds in the mornings to each classroom I'm literally fighting back tears listening to the classes singing and preparing for their special award's ceremonies. I adore their teachers, their classes, this whole year experience -- and I'm not a fan of change. I know, I know -- I'll move on. But, for the time being {at least until the year is over}, I'll probably stay in this sappy emotional state.

All that being said, today Silas and I went to Legoland for his end of the year field trip. I love being able to go to their separate field trips and just celebrate them. It's so fun to have individual one-on-one time since I don't get it very often. I get to see and experience such a different side of each boy.

It was pouring rain when we woke up this morning and I could barely see on the thirty minute ride to work. But in Carlsbad, the weather turned out to be perfection - cloudy, and in the sixties - which left us with a very empty park. There was no rush or long lines. The day was simply casual and an awesome experience with my boy. Having practically lived at Disneyland and recently experiencing Six Flags Magic Mountain, the rides didn't interest Silas at all. In fact, I couldn't help but laugh as he mockingly said, "Yay. Fun." as we rode a ride together. His favorite part was walking around and seeing the amazing lego cities and the star wars lego scenes. He could have stayed in that area all day and been completely satisfied.

I'm so thankful for such a fun and laid back day with my biggest boy, my first baby! Sorry bud, but no matter how big you get -- you'll always be my little monkey baby. Thanks for spending the day with me! And, stop growing up! Third grade can wait, right??!

Oh, and he also taught me that I could take selfies by pressing the volume up button on the iPhone, instead of trying to touch the button on the screen. Smarty pants.
