"one word" check-ins.

Scene 1:  Eli entered my office this afternoon, crying.

"Mom, I fell and hurt myself", he pathetically explained to me with tears streaming down both cheeks.  "I tripped over my shoes in the tunnel."

Two things -
1.)  The poor child inherited my clumsiness.
2.)  The tunnel is the hallway by the Kindergarten bathrooms.

I bandaged his two little knees and sent him back to class - after he composed himself.  He hobbled dramatically, but made it.  I would love to know what he told his class, as he is one to exaggerate on occasion.  I love him.

Scene 2:  Baby Jeremiah woke up from his nap.  He was extra clingy and cuddly.  As I hugged him close, I noticed he felt a little warm.  But, I was freezing all day and thought maybe his skin just felt warm to me.  Just to be sure, I walked to the front office to find the thermometer.

It read 102.8.  Uh oh.

I'm still not sure what's up.

Scene 3:  Silas entered the car, laughing.

"Mom!  Callie, Maddy, Kaylee, and Hailey played a prank on me."

"What did they do?"

"They drew me a picture of a mermaid.  'Cause they know I hate mermaids."

He's just being funny.  He really wasn't mad about it :)

Since it was kind of a different day, on the drive home, I changed up our "high/low's" a bit.  I asked, "If you could describe your day in one word, what would it be?"

They responded as follows:

Silas - "busy."
Eli - "uhhhhhh, kind of good, kind of bad."  {ha!  I didn't correct him.}
Jeremiah - "mmm daddy car."

And there you have it - our day in a nutshell!

the prank, the bandaged knees, and the sickie.
