Take a Ride in My Car

"Mommy, we're being followed.  Don't worry, it's the good Transformers.  Mommy!  There's smoke coming out of that car.  Is that the gas?  Mommy, there's smoke coming out of my mouth too!  Wow, that's magic.  Mommy, I have a great idea.  Let's play a new game.  Let's look for smoke and when you find it, you're the winner.  Okay, ready? Go!  Mommy, my shoes are magic.  They give me super powers.  They shoot water.  The water kills the bad guys.  It's just pretend water though, do you want to see it?  Can you see the pretend water coming out of my shoes?  They also fire.  The fire is blue and it turns bad guys to ice, kind of like Ice Man.  If I see any bad guys, I will shoot them with the fire and they will be frozen forever.  Mommy, how many more days is my birthday?  I really want it to be my birthday and I will be five.  Everyone will come to my party and I will be so happy.  Mommy, God really loves me, huh?  Mommy, I just love you so much.  I like you the best.  Do you know why I like you the best?  Because I like girls better than boys.  Girls are better than boys because girls are prettier.  And, you're the prettiest.  You're just the best, mom.  I love you."

10 seconds later...

"A BAD GUY!  {kaaaaa chaaaaa kacha kacha kacha eeeeeeeerrrrrrrkkkk!!  paaaasha!!}  Mommy, there's a dead guy on our car.  He is stuck there.  When we get to school, I will show you."

Another 10 minutes of nonstop talking continued, similar to the above "conversation".

We arrived at school and I got both boys out of the car.  Silas walked around to the front of the car.

"Mommy, LOOK!  The bad guy.  See, I told you he's frozen to the car.  I sure hope Grammy is in the office.  I have to show her my new shoes.  They make me super fast.  Come on, E!  Hurry up to the office!"

Seriously, my child does not stop talking.  He does not stop asking questions.  His imagination goes wild.  I'd say I wonder what goes on in his little brain, but it seems he says everything he thinks.  Literally.  Oh to actually exist in his little dream world.

My days are full of imaginative stories and endless questions.  Silas is extra chatty while riding in the car, probably because we're contained in a very small space and he can corner me.  If he asks a question in which I respond, "I don't know." that is certainly not sufficient.  He will reply, "Okay, momma.  Just think about it for a minute and then you will know."  In no less than 10 seconds he will ask,  "Did you think about it?"

Occasionally I would love to be able to listen to music or think, but it's gotten to where that's nearly impossible.  However, I do love our conversations and am often blown away at his thoughts, especially when our topics turn to God.  Oh yes, and Eli has his fair share in the conversations too.  Sometimes they'll carry on their own conversation together, of which I am not a part, or they'll be playing a game with their cars or action figures.  Yesterday, Silas and Eli began singing together.  Of course I had to grab my phone and record it, because it was pretty cute - mostly because it was completely spontaneous, initiated by Eli singing to himself and then Silas joining in.  Listen below...

I know I constantly ramble about how great my kids are.  I know, I know - everyone thinks their own kids are great and every little thing they do is fascinating and the whole world would be amazed if they could just see how smart, good looking, clever, etc. their kid is.  Indeed, my kids are geniuses and happen to be the most beautiful and sweetest kids that ever existed.  I'm allowed to think that, because I'm their mom.  But seriously, as I was driving to work this morning, ever so amazed that anyone could have that many thoughts swirling through their mind at 7:30 a.m., I couldn't help but smile to myself.  My Silas is funny, imaginative, clever, sweeter than sweet and makes my heart burst with love.  I dare you - corner him one-on-one in a room and get him chatting - and you'd fall in love too!  Guaranteed.

And don't even get me started on Eli, my little love bug...
