Reward Chart - On our way to reaching our goals!
Two definite goals.
Stickers.
Reward Chart.
We have some huge goals in our house. 1. Get Eli potty trained. 2. Keep both kids in their beds all night.
1. Potty training. I potty trained Silas in 2-3 days. He was two months shy of his third birthday. I waited until then, because that was when all signs pointed towards him being 100% ready. We had very few accidents once he was trained. He was a pro. Eli is 2 years and 7 months, so a teeny bit younger than Silas was. I personally believe if they're not ready, forcing the matter can be traumatic for both mom and kid. Eli doesn't seem the least bit interested, though I have made some attempts. The differing factor between Silas and Eli is that Eli is stubborn. Where Silas would at least sit on the potty and try, Eli will simply say, "I don't want to." I guess I could hold him down on the potty, but I'm pretty sure that would get me no where but further from my goal. My new plan is bribery. Candy. Stickers. DISNEYLAND. Yes, I said Disneyland. Disneyland is Eli's new favorite place. I'm hoping that with some motivation, he'll be encouraged to earn some stickers for the ultimate reward of a trip to Disney. I could have picked a prize or taken him to Peter Piper Pizza or something but heck, I wanna go to Disneyland too! Eli's success = fun for the whole family.
2. Bed-time. Silas is the ultimate snuggler. He loves sleeping next to someone. He is getting better about staying in his bed all night now that he and Eli share their bunk bed, but it's definitely not on a consistent basis. My goal is to get Silas to stay in his room all night, and then work on Eli. I don't want to shock Eli with too much all at once, so after he's potty trained that'll be my new goal with him. First things first!
SO, today at work, I created a reward chart. I thought about purchasing a chart at Target, but when my mom suggested I make one, I knew I could create a much cuter and smaller one on my own. Plus, I could customize it and re-create another one once we fill it up. I put 3 things on each boy's list. Two of the three items on their list are things they already do, but I wanted to get them excited about the stickers and motivated when they saw the stickers adding up. When the chart is full - reward!
Kid's love praise. They love rewards and affirmation. I'm hoping this is the ticket to my success - our shall I say, our success. Silas is pumped. I still have to explain it better to Eli. He fell asleep after school and I've yet to actually show him how it works.
Here's hoping we reach our goals.

I was just telling Geoff that I'm DONE with letting Sawyer into the bed with us at night. He wakes me up every hour and I'm exhausted the next day. Maybe I need a chart...
