Co-conspirators. Or, the ring leader and his puppet. Call it whatever you like, but my two boys have been up to no good. Yes, my sweet, precious boys. Here's the rundown...
Eli will imitate anything Silas says or does, and Silas has quickly caught onto this. On the typical night, I make sure Eli is asleep before I send Silas to bed. This is due to the fact that they share a bed right now. Tomorrow, their bunk beds come, but sleeping together has worked fine for the past couple months. Last night, let's just say Eli was in quite the little mood. He was a crank all afternoon and I anticipated he'd pretty much fall into bed and be out like a light.
Not so.
It was getting late and I was over waiting for him to fall asleep. So, I sent Silas to bed.
Big mistake.
About five minutes after Silas goes to bed every single night, he has to go potty - number 2. It doesn't matter if I make him try before bed. He won't do it. So naturally, last night was no different. I heard the bedroom door open again while Silas was still going potty and Eli announced, "Mommy, I gotta go poo poo, too." Dusty and I knew this was not true - He just wanted out of bed. I told him, "Eli, go back to bed."
Some time later, they were both back in their room. We heard the door open again and Eli walked out with his head down, grinning sheepishly. "Mommy, my tummy hurts." Eli has not said this a day in his life. Rather, this is something Silas says every single night, because he does not want to go to bed or he wants an excuse to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed. He will try anything and everything, even though his attempts are unsuccessful. So, as Eli was in the living room telling us this little fib, we heard Silas laughing in the room. Dusty and I immediately realized Silas had told Eli to say that. We reprimanded both of them and put Eli back to bed.
Again, Eli walked out a few more times in the same fashion - head down, hands folded, walking slowly, grinning ear to ear - knowing exactly what he was doing. Each time we told him to "GO BACK TO BED." And, he did.
Moments later we heard explosive laughter. There was a party going on in their room. Naturally, I had to find out what was so funny.
Eli - "Go to bed, NOW, or you will go to time out."
Silas - "One............Two............Three............"
Eli - "TIME OUT!!"
Both - "Baahahahahahahahahah {Giggle, Giggle, Giggle} Hahahahahaha!!"
Yes, they were completely mocking us and laughing hysterically about it.
They think they're soooo funny. Okay, well it was funny. But of course we couldn't crack a grin or give them any indication of that.
Finally, at some point, they fell asleep.
I wish I could explain to Eli not to listen to Silas - that he's only trying to get him in trouble. I have explained to Silas to stop telling Eli to do things he knows he's not supposed to. Silas thinks he's just being funny, but it's obviously not okay. I guess the good thing is, they work together well - they're a team. The bad thing is, they're already ganging up against us.
I can only wonder what's in store for us.
