a nice Sunday
It seems like we're always ready for the next season. By the time the heat of the summer is over, we are so ready for the fall and all the *warmth* it brings. The days and nights are cooler, the sun goes down earlier and you get to bundle up in cozy sweaters and warm blankets. Today was just that perfect fall day! Cloudy, a little drizzle and perfect for snuggling up on the couch. I didn't actually get to do that, but still very much enjoyed the day! It's like there was something in the air that just made me happy!
If we allow ourselves, we really can find joy in anything. I was driving home this evening and the sun hitting the backside of the dark, rain clouds was gorgeous! The boys were both asleep in the backseat and I was just driving with the music up with not a care in the world. Then, I spot a HUGE rainbow and it was so beautiful I made Dusty meet me at the car and drive around with me for a few minutes. Then we went to Seven Eleven and got this ridiculously huge iced tea that made me want to laugh every time I took a sip (it was in a can, but like twice the size of a normal soda). Those are the moments in life that I love - the small, silly things that make you happy. It's funny because some of my most special memories as a child are not fun trips or vacations that we took...but I remember we used to pull the mattress off the bed and camp out in the living room on the floor and watch a movie. I thought that was the greatest thing ever. It's interesting the memories that stick out in your mind - I remember lots of things, but some are just so distinct. Kind of makes me wonder what my boys will look back and remember one day...
But anyhow, it was such a great day. And now it's 6:00 and both boys are sleeping! I am so loving this time change! Silas didn't have a nap today, so he is exhausted. We'll see in the morning if I regret putting him down so early. I didn't have the heart to wake him up when we got home and since it was already dark, I just laid him in his bed. I think maybe I'll just get to bed early too! He's loving school so much that we've been going everyday...which is great, and makes our days so structured but we get up early! I've been so impressed with how well Silas is doing at school and I'm so proud of him. It's funny because I always knew he was smart, he's just done everything in his own timing. It sounds kind of mean, but he was kind of slow at everything - rolling over, walking, talking, etc... he's definitely stubborn! But he has always been so full of expression and you can see his little brain just thinking away. So it really hasn't been that long since he's been full on talking. He said his first word early, which of course was "ma ma", and we knew he could talk...but he just wouldn't! You'd hear him say something and then try to get him to repeat it. But nope - he wasn't gonna do anything he didn't want to do. So, everyday is fun with Silas. You never know what's gonna pop out of that little mouth of his, which is why Dusty and I are constantly laughing. He always seems to liven things up - God bless that sweet little boy!
Well, I may as well get comfortable and try to get to bed early, as I said. It feels nice because most Sunday nights I'm not ready to start the week, but right now...I'm ready to go =) I am truly blessed and ready for another week. I am so very thankful for the day, the weather, my Dusty and my boys!
