In the moment...
The house is so quiet right now as all three of my boys are quietly sleeping. Its a perfect day, absolutely beautiful out. I'm just laying here on the bed next to Eli as he sleeps and the window is open and I can hear the cars passing by on the nearby freeway and the birds chirping. There's nothing uniquely special about this moment, but still I wish I could bottle it up. I can hear Eli quietly breathing and he looks so peaceful. Sometimes its hard not to live in the past or anticipate the future...but I always want to remember its the moments that really count. Its too easy to get caught up in life and let it pass you by. I feel like my boys are growing up faster than I can blink and I want to savor this very moment because I know it is fleeting. A lot of people I know right now are having babies and I tell them all the same thing. Cherish every single moment, because it goes so fast! I know I could probably sound silly, because my boys are only 5 months and almost 3 years old - they still have their whole lives ahead of them!! But, I'm glad I think about it, because I don't want to sweat the small stuff. I truly want to make the most of each day, to have patience and to not have regrets.
So, as I lay here next to my sweet, little Eli...I just pray that I will always remember to count my blessings and thank the Lord for the precious gifts he has given me. I have so much, and I don't want to ever forget that.
