I feel like I need a new goal. Or a hobby. Or a challenge. Something to blog about! I mean, I do have many random thoughts throughout the day - thoughts not having to do with how amazingly cute and adorable my kids are. Not that that's not a great topic, but you know what I'm saying.
For instance, today - I was driving home when I noticed the car in the lane to the right of me had it's blinker on, obviously needing over. I began to have a debate in my head on what's most appropriate - slow down to let them over, or speed up? Really, it could go either way. I know when I need over, it's only reasonable for the other car to be considerate and let me in the lane. However, when the situation is reversed, it seems more than rational that they wait for two seconds while I speed up. Okay, and how about this? When a semi is in the lane next to you driving behind another incredibly slow semi and out of no where swerves over into your lane so suddenly that it startles you - should you call the safety number on the back of the truck and report the driver? After all - we could've died.
And then, there's the article I read yesterday. "Mom and Boyfriend Eat Pizza while 3 Year Old Tot Lays Dying". Basically, she beat her 3 year old son to death because he wet his pants and then proceeded to eat the pizza she and her boyfriend ordered out while he laid there and died. I can't even process something like that. How does this kind of evil exist?
There's everyday decisions like what to make for dinner, what to pack in the kid's lunches, what kind of tooth paste to buy or how to fix my hair and decide what to wear? I mean come on, this stuff takes a lot of thought you know.
Let's not forget about our upstairs neighbor who sounds like he's lifting weights all hours of the night - I think about that a lot. Or the other upstairs neighbor with the dog that looks like he wants to maul my children every time we walk out the door. I wonder what will happen to that dog when the pregnant owner has her baby soon.
I wonder about the ultra blonde, ultra tan, ultra skinny woman who is at the lake every single time I am there. It doesn't matter if I go at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, 1:00 in the afternoon or 5:00 in the evening - she is there, walking. Does she live there? Does she ever stop walking? Or, what about the ultra tan, ultra skinny, dark haired gentleman that is also always there. Wouldn't they make the perfect couple? It has to be a match made in heaven, but I've never seen them together. It's like 70 year old Barbie and Ken. Maybe I should set them up.
I wonder what on earth is going to happen on the next Grey's Anatomy. I mean, the ups and downs of Meredith and McDreamy's relationship is stressful. (Note: I recently discovered all 7 seasons on Netflix... but that's another story)
I think about all the people I encounter on a regular basis - like the cashier at the gas station who teases me for buying a loaf of bread almost every day, or the employees at Target who I literally see every single day of the week. What are their lives like beyond "Hello" and "Goodbye".
I think about how self-obsessed our culture is - and how fast paced and time oriented we are.
I think about what the world will be like when my kids are grown. And, what they'll be like. I simply cannot imagine 18 year old Silas or Eli. What is life like beyond imaginary dragons, Buzz Lightyear, McDonald's and Disneyland. It's kind of scary to think about.
I'm often surprised at how fast my brain can go from one topic to the next. You know how you'll be thinking about something, which leads you to something else completely random and suddenly you have no idea what the initial thought was that started the rabbit trail in the first place? If it's anything like following that last sentence or this blog post, you know what I mean.
I don't know what my point is except that I have a lot of thoughts and opinions throughout the day that I mostly keep to myself. Today I read a blog with the title, "I think I love my Son Just a Little Bit More." The mom basically talked about how sometimes she thought she loved her son more than her daughter. And, I had an opinion. So I thought, maybe I should start blogging about some of those opinions. I'm all for healthy dialogue and conversation - I love to hear people's thoughts and perspectives on things.

And, by the way... my kids are still cute and adorable. Had to throw that in there - and of course some photo evidence. Here's some photos from the past few days.
