"Cheeeese!!" - School Picture Day

I love a good excuse to dress the boys up.  One word -- ties.  I love ties.  Boys are pretty much no fun to dress except in the winter when I can layer to my hearts desire.  I hate the summer as far as dressing goes.  I mean, come on - how many pairs of plaid shorts and graphic tees can one kid wear?  I always feel bad layering shirts in the summer because it's too hot.  So, I live for the San Diego "winter" where the clothes are a little more fun -- vests, collared shirts under graphic tees, hoodies, winter hats, boots, etc.

Today was one of those few days of the year where I had an excuse to put them in a tie, so - I did.  I grabbed a couple photos before school.  I had my camera and hey - it's not like school pictures are that great anyway.  However, they were so not into taking photos at 6:45 a.m. on the way out the door -- not to mention their hair was still wet.  Nonetheless, I managed a few shots where they were at least looking at the camera.  Eli tends to smile and look to the side, while Si thinks way too much about his smile to where it's faker than fake.  When I try to explain to him the difference, he says through grimaced teeth, "I'm trying the best I can, Mom.  Can I be done now?"

I sigh and think to myself, "I know I'm a pest, kid.  But, you're so cute and you have to be documented.  I know it's painful, but come on... for me.  For your mom.  I have to remember these moments before your grown.  Your future wife will thank me one day.  Promise."

All that being said, here's our 6:45 a.m., wet-haired, pre-photo sess of School Picture Day 2011.
