spring breakin' it.
Here I go again... is it really Spring Break already? My request for time to slow down a teeny bit just continues to go unnoticed, so I gotta run with it.
Spring break was a little different this year, beginning with Easter, rather than ending with it. My mom came out for all the school festivities and was able to celebrate Easter with us - sorry dad, that you were by your lonesome. Thanks for letting us have mom for the week! We went to the beach, to the movies, to the park, did a little spring cleaning, hunted lots of Easter eggs, played board games, and did plenty of shopping before sending her back to Texas. Saying goodbye somehow never gets easier but the boys have gotten used to it in their own way. Eli requested that she stay another week, knowing it really couldn't happen. Silas tends to get a little clingy and bummed and JJ simply says, "it's time for you to go bye bye in the sky Mamaw!!" They know that she {and dad} will be back before we know it. Their visits have become such the norm, it's just kind of what we do. Not having them in our day-to-day life stinks, but we always know another visit is around the corner.
Yesterday we took a small group of students from Dusty's school to Six Flags Magic Mountain with the boys. And this morning, I feel old. We are definitely not teenagers anymore, that's for sure! With the boys we typically spend maybe 4-5 hours at any given theme park. We have passes so know there is plenty of time to return, rather than completely wearing ourselves out. Yesterday though, was different. Since we were taking students, we pretty much stayed the entire day. We left our house at 6:00 a.m. and didn't return home until around 11:00 p.m. Again, back the in day this would have been no big deal... but with three kids in tow, it's a little different. As exhausted as we all were by the end of the day, we had a great time and can't wait to do it again.
I'm thankful it's Friday and we still have three more days before we have to get back to the grind. It's been nice to be able to unwind, take a break, and have some relaxed, unscheduled days together. More often than not, it's the simple things that mean the most - like watching a movie, playing basketball outside, or playing a game together. And ready or not, there's only 7 full weeks of school left and 1 week with minimum days. Let's do this!
