what's in a name?

Eva Louise.

Our baby girl.  So perhaps you are wondering what's behind the name?  Choosing a name is something we have never taken lightly and is far from being an easy task.  We wanted all of our children to have strong, Biblical names and I also wanted their names to sound nice together.  Silas Daniel, Eli Jackson, Jeremiah Steven, Eva Louise.  They aren't the most common names and the boy's names all have the long "i" sound.  Before Dusty and I ever even considered becoming pregnant, we knew our first son would be Silas.  It was something we agreed upon from the beginning.  We simply loved the way Daniel flowed with it.  Upon searching for a name that worked with Silas, I fell in love with the name Eli, appreciating how simple, yet strong and confident it sounded.  We chose the name Jackson after my dad, Jack.  I have always loved the name Jeremiah, and Steven is both Dusty and his dad's middle name.  Choosing a girl Bible name proved to not be so simple.   There's really nothing with the long "i" sound or a name that stood out as super unique to me.  There's just not a ton of options. AndI know what you may be thinking... Eva isn't a Bible name.  Well, kinda.

"The name Eva is a Hebrew baby name.  In Hebrew the meaning of the name Eva is: Life. Living one.  It's the Latin form of the Hebrew name, Eve."  Life, living one.  I adore that.  And, how appropriate for this new, special life that is being formed inside me even now.  Louise.  Louise means,  famous warrior; renowned fighter.  I pray she is a fighter, "fight{ing} the good fight for the true faith, hold{ing} tightly to the eternal life to which God has called {her}.  Louise is also my mom's middle name so I am thrilled that she will also have a namesake.

Silas, Eli, Jeremiah, Eva.  Sounds perfect and complete to me :)

I am still trying to let the idea of having a baby girl sink in.  I really never thought it was possible and  was 100% prepared to hear "boy".  And, I would have been absolutely thrilled, overjoyed, and elated to have the privilege of raising another precious boy.  Being a mom of boy's has been one of my greatest joys and blessings.  My cup truly runneth over.  So in a lot of ways, I have no idea what I am in for.  I am captivated at the thought of having a sweet baby girl, yet have no idea what to expect other than the fact that I have three boys that are over the moon excited and she will have the three greatest protectors known to man.

In light of our exciting news, I can't help but think of some of the comments that I get all the time from being out and about with three boys.  Probably the biggest question is, "are you going to try for a girl?"  When we decided to have another child, we were wanting another baby.  Boy or girl, either is miraculous and beautiful in it's own right and really, ya don't get much choice!  It's pretty much 50/50 chance either way.  Of course, this is super exciting news and we love, love, love that everyone is sharing in our excitement.  We just honestly would have been happy either way!

The comment that gets me the most {because people say it in front of my boys} is, "your hands are so full with THREE boys!"  I know all mom's are partial - and they should be - but we have some of the sweetest, biggest hearted, well-behaved boys that I have ever come across.  My "job", if you even want to call it that, it pretty easy.  I'm not kidding.  Their genuine love for one another blows me away.  When I hashtag my photos #brothers #bestfriends, it's not to be cute or just throw out a random hashtag.  It's because it is the honest to goodness truth.  Just last Sunday we were following behind the boys as we were walking out to our car.  Silas and Eli were holding hands talking and laughing while we quietly observed.  I looked at Dusty and said, "I can't even wrap my head around how much they love each other.  It's the craziest thing I have ever seen".  He agreed.  We don't understand how or why, but its beautiful nonetheless.

And finally, "You need a girl to complete your family".   As unexpected and thrilling as the news that we are having a girl is, a girl is not what makes us complete.  Yes, she will make us complete, because she will be the completion of our little unit.  The big news either way would have made us just as complete.  But yes, we are delighted for what is to come.  I mean, did you see the boys jumping up and down in pure joy?  And I cannot say I didn't tear up putting the reveal video together.

I have no idea what having four children will be like.  What I do know is this - sweet Eva Louise will be loved without measure.  She will hold our hearts and bring a new sense of joy and life to our entire family.  She was perfectly planned and hand picked by God, just for us.  She is loved, she is wanted, and we anxiously await the day we get to hold her in our arms.  We are beside ourselves and in awe that we have the honor of raising another child.   Thank you, God, for this incredible blessing.  May we raise her up to love and serve You wholeheartedly.  Guide us and teach us, as we bring her up to be a daughter of the King.

My greatest joys.
