I have never put up my tree even remotely this early. I do agree, it's early.
Like, crazy early.
But, we've had another Sunday at home with a sick kid. Remember how I mentioned in my last post that the boys have been so sick this year -- basically contracting every single strain of every single thing going around? Yeah... they all three had strep this week and then JJ was throwing up this morning. Fun times.
So, I needed something to do. I've been itching to begin organizing closets and going through toys before the holidays. Prior to my kids bringing home a new wardrobe and adding more inventory to ourtoy store playroom ... I must purge. Out with the old, in with the new? Plus, there's nothing like that feeling of productivity and the accomplishment of organizing. So, that's just what I did. Since things were going to be a mess anyway, it was easier to get the tree out of the attic and just make one big mess all at once. I'm not quite sure that rationale made much sense to Dusty, but it sure did to me. So, we put up our trees.
First, our big tree. I have always done a themed tree for the boys and my aunt sent me a photo of a Darth Vader tree, which is absolutely perfect for my boy's current obsession. They had no idea I was doing this and let's just say... they're obsessed.
We did a Minecraft tree in Silas and Eli's room and then JJ helped me decorate his tree. He was all into it. This is one of the reasons I adore this age. Yeah, toddlers can be challenging. But, they are equally sweet and innocent and enamored. Everything is bigger than life. The big boys had fun helping me decorate, but JJ loved it. He was absolutely giddy. After putting some small colored balls on it, he put a hot wheel... and then more toys... and then even more. He decided on rescue bots, hot wheels, and batman & robin. These are all the things he is super into right now, so it is perfection. I adore it.
My final plan is to do a Storm Trooper tree on an all white tree. Photos to be posted when it's done, but at least we got a good start, right? I did refrain from putting up stockings or any other Christmas decorations for the time being. We'll wait until after Thanksgiving for that. Oh, and Elfie will then make his appearance.
