our spring break.

Let's begin with the fact that it's been so longed since I've posted, it's ridiculous.

Life is in full force.  In the past two weeks, Dusty and I flew to Austin and back for Jay and Lynnea's wedding.  It was perfection.  Yet, also a blur!  Then, we had a week full of Easter events at school and topped that off with a week long visit from Mamaw for spring break.  During that week, Dusty took some students camping and we spent half of one day visiting their campsite, went shopping at the outlets, spent a day at the pool, spent two glorious days at the beach {two different beaches}, one day at Disneyland, one day at Magic Mountain, and then my mom and I topped it off with a mani/pedi and some Easter Bunny business before taking her to the airport yesterday.

Easter Week:
I've said it a thousand times, but we have the best. school. ever.  Besides the fact that it runs an exceptional program {there's really no debating this!}{I could spend a day just explaining why}, but the teachers go out of their way to not only share God's love, but actively show it.  I am constantly blown away that it's possible to have such an amazing staff, that truly comes together and works as a team, that loves the students the way that they do, and that each runs an amazing classroom, going out of their way to make it extraordinary.  Eli's teacher does a reenactment of the last week of Jesus' life.  Eli, had the honor of playing the role of Jesus - and boy did he get into character.  These photos kill me. Just too sweet.

Triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

The Last Supper
His arrest, crucifixion, and finally, "He is risen"

During Easter week, we have two chapels - Cross Chapel on Wednesday {our Good Friday}, and one on Friday, our Celebration Chapel.

For Cross Chapel, the setting is very dark, only candlelit.  The students come in quietly and we read the story of Jesus' death.  We sing a few songs and at the end, each student has a piece of paper that they have written on.  They write something they want forgiveness for.  As they go, they lay it at the cross.  I think this is an awesome visual representation for them.

When they come to the Celebration Chapel on Friday, everything is bright and beautiful!  We celebrate, read the rest of the story - He is RISEN - and sing some more!  The students receive their paper back, which is now stamped "PAID IN FULL".  After chapel, we have a huge Easter party - kind of like a carnival with booth and games, a yummy lunch, and each class has their own Easter egg hunt.  It's a minimum day and the only day the entire year the students have absolutely no school work!  It is only a day to celebrate!

One of the 8th graders wore an Easter bunny suit, so of course, JJ wanted to meet him!
When you tell his cousins to both give him a kiss!
And when you tell him to give his friend Bradley a hug!
Checking out the J Street marina, my favorite spot to run!
Fun at the pool - where we will live from here on out!  They ganged up on me, both shooting their water guns at me at the same time!
Post pool shenanigans.
This is when we went to find Daddy and his students.  They weren't at the site, so we kind of crashed it!  JJ helped himself to a life size bag of chips, Eli took the mallet and started banging everything in sight, Silas wanted to start a fire, and I laid in the hammock!
One of the best things about Spring Break -- time for this!
Beach babe!  He refused to take these sunglasses off!
Burying Eli in the sand.
Seriously, can it get any cuter?  I love them and love these kind of days!
Disneyland!

He would ride the train all day long if we'd let him!
Eli on a ride at Magic Mountain.
Superheroes.
Oh, Eli.
The ride they'd been dying to ride forever.  And me?  I literally thought I was going to die.  Scariest ride I have ever been on, and I don't get scared of rides.
While we were at Magic Mountain, he was having fun with Mamaw!
The boys and Mamaw
Oh the fun we had at the beach!
What a fun week we have had, creating new memories!  Thanks, mom for spending the week with us.  We always cherish these times and are thankful that you and dad make such an effort to spend time with our family.

I gotta say, this week was just a tease and makes me ready for summer.  I love the slower, more laid back pace, the beach and pool days, the extra time with my sweet boys!  We have three full days before we have to go back to school on Tuesday, and believe it or not, less than 7 weeks left!  Absolute craziness.  I promise you, school started just yesterday.  Oh, how the time flies!

Happy Easter everyone!  He is RISEN!
