The first "fight"

Well, it's bound to happen, right?  Today Dusty and I watched as Silas and Eli got into their first little "fight".  So Silas is playing with his brand new, Lightning McQueen racetrack that he got from Santa at our Christmas party last night.  He is having an absolute blast and loves it.  I had Eli back in my room doing stuff and he saw one of Silas' old little cars on the bed and grabbed it.  There is nothing special about this car...it's not one of his "Cars" character cars and is kind of beat up.  Well I was walking in the room and sat Eli down on the couch because I thought he'd like to watch Silas play as the cars zoomed around the racetrack.  Silas notices what Eli has in his hand and that's bad news!!  So he grabs it from him and of course Eli begins to cry.  Dusty immediately told Silas to give it back and share but of course Silas wasn't having that!  So Dusty took it out of Silas' hand and told him that Eli was playing with it and he had to learn how to share.  Eli was happy again.  Silas grabbed it again.  Eli cried again.  This whole sequence happened several times as Dusty kept telling Silas to give it back or he was going to time out.  So then Silas runs to me and trys to persuade me to fix the problem, as if I don't already know that Dusty told him "no".  As he's in my room telling me about it, he sees "Eli's toy" that he got from Santa and goes into the other room and tries to trade with him, because afterall...the car was his and the Eeyore was Eli's.  The funniest part was that Eli was not going for that at all!  I mean, Silas is constantly taking things from Eli...even Eli's own toys!  He will take whatever Eli has and go get the smallest, worst toy in the toy chest that he would never play with and give it to him.  So it was interesting watching the whole thing play out, mostly because Eli was standing his ground but also that Silas even cared.  It is truly unbelieveable how he could be playing with one of the coolest (and don't forget new) toys and he had to stop and make a point that Eli had his little insignificant car.  It's just amazing how every baby is born selfish and you really do have to mold and teach them things like sharing.
